ChemInform Abstract

The methoxytetralincarboxylic acid chlorides (IV) and (X), prepared from 6-methoxy-1-tetralone (I) or from the cyanomethoxybenzocyclobutene (VII) as outlined in the reaction scheme, undergo cyclization reaction with the terminal alkynes (V) in the presence of aluminum trichloride, forming the fused cyclopentenones (VI) or (XI).
