Abstract

Vinyl acetate (I) and the alkenes (IVa) - (IVc) undergo C-C coupling reaction with the sulfones (II) under free-radical conditions to produce the unsaturated sulfones (III) or (Va) - (Vc).

ChemInform Abstract

Vinyl acetate (I) and the alkenes (IVa) - (IVc) undergo C-C coupling reaction with the sulfones (II) under free-radical conditions to produce the unsaturated sulfones (III) or (Va) - (Vc). Isopropenyl acetate (IVd) and cyclohexene (IVe) do not react with (IIb). Reaction of phenylacetylene (VI) with (IIb) under analogous conditions leads to the formation of the aryl dienyl sulfone (VII). Treatment of the adduct (IIIb) with an acid results in cyclization to give the (tosylmethyl)methylenebutyrolactone (VIII).
