ChemInform Abstract

19F and 1H NMR spectra of solutions of anhydrous HF2--free tetramethylammonium fluoride (I) in acetonitrile, chloroform, or dichloromethane reveal that the fluoride anion is basic enough to abstract a proton from acetonitrile and nucleophilic enough to undergo halogen exchange reactions with chloroform and dichloromethane at room temperature.
