Abstract

Starting with the known aldehyde (I) the synthesis of four enantiomerically pure grasshopper ketones such as (IX) and of their oxo derivatives is described.

ChemInform Abstract

Starting with the known aldehyde (I) the synthesis of four enantiomerically pure grasshopper ketones such as (IX) and of their oxo derivatives is described. Key step is the stereospecific reduction of the propargylic oxirane (VIII) using (iBu)2AlH.
