Abstract

Stoichiometric reaction of the dimethylsulfide-Pt(II) complex (I) and the diphosphine (II) results in the formation of the phosphido-phosphine, diphosphine complex (III); additionally the chelate isomer (IV) (space group P21/n, Z=4) is obtained in a small yield.

ChemInform Abstract

Stoichiometric reaction of the dimethylsulfide-Pt(II) complex (I) and the diphosphine (II) results in the formation of the phosphido-phosphine, diphosphine complex (III); additionally the chelate isomer (IV) (space group P21/n, Z=4) is obtained in a small yield. The same reaction carried out for shorter time periods leads to significant quantities of the mononuclear chelate PtCl2(iPr-PHCH2P(iPr)2) and small quantities of (IV). A possible mechanism for the predominant formation of (III) is discussed. The mixed ligand dimer (VI) (P1, Z=2) is prepared by stoichiometric reaction of (I) and a 1:1 mixture of the diphosphines (II) and (V).
