Abstract

On heating with anhydrous sodium carbonate in MeOH the five-coordinate complex (I) is converted into the planar carbonyl complex (III).

ChemInform Abstract

On heating with anhydrous sodium carbonate in MeOH the five-coordinate complex (I) is converted into the planar carbonyl complex (III). The added hydrogen and CO are derived from MeOH probably via an intermediate formaldehyde complex. A detailed mechanism is given. The existence of (III) is confirmed by chemical reactions.
