Abstract

Reaction of the dithiodianiline (I) with diketones such as (II) yields benzothiazines such as (III) together with the products (IV)-(VI).

ChemInform Abstract

Reaction of the dithiodianiline (I) with diketones such as (II) yields benzothiazines such as (III) together with the products (IV)-(VI). The reactions of (I), however, with the diketones (VII) affords the ketosulfide (VIII) along with the compounds (IX), (X), (IV) or the benzothiazine (XII) along with the products (IV) and (XIII). It is shown that the compound (III) undergoes a hydrolytic C2-C3 bond cleavage of the thiazine nucleus to give the α-ketosulfide (VI).
