Abstract

The title compounds are prepared as shown in the reaction scheme.

The title compounds are prepared as shown in the reaction scheme. The UV, IR, and 1H NMR spectral data of these compounds are discussed. Some of these cyanine dyes, e.g. (III), (Va), and (XIII) have remarkable activity against bacterial and fungal strains.
