The compound (III) is prepared in order to have a ring system of potential biological significance.

The compound (III) is prepared in order to have a ring system of potential biological significance. Tests for cytotoxic or antimicrobial activity reveal that neither (III) nor its derivatives (IV), (VI) and (VIII) possess any positive effects.
