Abstract

Reaction of the haloanthraquinones (I) with dimethylhydrazine (II) or N-aminopiperidine (VI) results in predominant or exclusive cleavage of the N-N bond, producing the amine derivatives (III), (V), or (VII).

ChemInform Abstract

Reaction of the haloanthraquinones (I) with dimethylhydrazine (II) or N-aminopiperidine (VI) results in predominant or exclusive cleavage of the N-N bond, producing the amine derivatives (III), (V), or (VII). Treatment of (Ib) with (II) in dimethyl sulfoxide instead of pyridine favours the formation of the fused pyrazole (IVb). (Intermediates).
