ChemInform Abstract

Solid-state 13C NMR unequivocally establish the existence of rapidly equilibrating valence tautomers of both the known crystalline α-form and a second form (β) of (Ia)/(IIa) and of (Ib)/(IIb) as well, whereas X-ray crystallography of (Ia) (β-form, space group P21/a with Z=4) appear to favor the existence of structures intermediate between (Ia) and (IIa).
