Abstract

The title compounds can be prepared either by annealing stoichiometric mixtures of the elements at 900 °C or by intercalation of Ag into TiZrTe4 at 400 °C. The structures of AgTiZrTe4 (I) and Ag2TiZrTe4 (II) (space group P2/m, Z=4) are closely related to that of TiZrTe4, showing an ordered distribution of Ti and Zr atoms at the octahedral sites of the CdI2-type structure.

ChemInform Abstract

The title compounds can be prepared either by annealing stoichiometric mixtures of the elements at 900 °C or by intercalation of Ag into TiZrTe4 at 400 °C. The structures of AgTiZrTe4 (I) and Ag2TiZrTe4 (II) (space group P2/m, Z=4) are closely related to that of TiZrTe4, showing an ordered distribution of Ti and Zr atoms at the octahedral sites of the CdI2-type structure. Both compounds exhibit high specific conductivities (for (I): 1.3·10-4 ω-1 cm-1 at 150 °C, EA = 0.7 eV; for (II): 5·10-5 ω-1 cm-1, EA = 1.0 eV).
