ChemInform Abstract

The title compound (III) crystallizes in the space group Pba2 with Z=2. The crystal structure is isotypic with that of (N(PCl3)2) (MoOCl4) and exhibits the same kind of two-dimensional disorder. Characteristic are square-pyramidal (MoNCl4)- anions stacked to form columns with alternating Mo-N distances of 175 and 243 pm. According to 31P NMR results, the compound exists as its isomer phosphaneiminate (IV) in CD2Cl2/MeCN solution.
