ChemInform Abstract

The title compound (V) can be efficiently prepared starting either from the (tetra-O-acetyl glucopyranoside)uronate (I) or (tri-O-acetyl glucopyranosyl bromide)-uronate (III) via the condensation product (IV). Depending on the work-up conditions, either (V) or its more stable Na salt can be obtained after alkaline hydrolysis.
