The title reagents (cf. the conditions A) or B)) are efficient for the reduction of amino acids such as (Ia), carboxylic acids such as (Ib), amides such as (Ic), (Id), or nitriles such as (III). The nitrostyrene derivative (V) or the sulfoxide (VII) are reduced to the compounds (VI) or (VIII).
