Abstract

Gaseous hexafluoropropene (I) is oxidized on topic catalyst systems with oxygen to yield hexafluoroacetone (II) as the main product, together with minor amounts of carbon dioxide (III).

ChemInform Abstract

Gaseous hexafluoropropene (I) is oxidized on topic catalyst systems with oxygen to yield hexafluoroacetone (II) as the main product, together with minor amounts of carbon dioxide (III). Hexafluoropropylene oxide does neither appear as impurity nor as intermediate. Conversion of (I) ranges between 21 and 63%, and the selectivity to (II) reaches 97%.
