Abstract

When the cyclohexanone (VI) or the diphenylpyrazolinone (I) react with the unsaturated aromatic ketones (V) and ammonium acetate (VII), cyclocondensation with concomitant elimination of the aryl moiety takes place, producing the fused pyrazoles (VIII) or (IX).

ChemInform Abstract

When the cyclohexanone (VI) or the diphenylpyrazolinone (I) react with the unsaturated aromatic ketones (V) and ammonium acetate (VII), cyclocondensation with concomitant elimination of the aryl moiety takes place, producing the fused pyrazoles (VIII) or (IX). In contrast, ethyl acetoacetate (X) or diethyl malonate (XII) cyclize to give the aroylmethylpyrazolopyridines (XI) or (XIII).
