ChemInform Abstract

The equilibrium mixture of (I) with 5% of the s-trans isomer reacts with (II) to give the carbene complex (III). The chiral central metallacyclic ring system and the chiral preferred conformation of the cyclopentadienyl-substituted bent metallocene unit leads to the formation of (III) as a 80:20 mixture of diastereomers as indicated by the X-ray structure analysis (P1, Z=2) as well as the 13C NMR spectrum in the solid state.
