Abstract

The influence of the reducing agent on the formation of the lactones or lactols as well as the mechanisms of formation of these compounds are discussed in detail.

The influence of the reducing agent on the formation of the lactones or lactols as well as the mechanisms of formation of these compounds are discussed in detail. The lactones (V) and the lactols (VII) may be used as synthons in the preparation of prostaglandins.
