ChemInform Abstract

The thionylimino-As(III) compounds (III) are prepared according to the scheme shown. Treatment of Cr(CO)5THF (VI) with these compounds gives the complexes (VII). X-ray structure analysis of (VIIa) (space group P21/c, Z=4) shows that the ligand adopts a cis configuration and is bonded to Cr via the As atom. The reaction of (IIIc) with the Pt(0) complex (VIII) results in As-N bond cleavage to give the cis-bis(thionylimino)Pt(II) complex (IX). The thermolysis of (IIIc) produces the eight-membered ring (Xb) by self-condensation. This and its analogue (Xa) replace norbornadiene from the Cr(CO)4 complex (XI) to yield the cis derivatives (XII) (yields given in g and mmol).
