Abstract

Hypervalent iodine oxidation of β-diketones and β-ketoesters such as (I) using appropriate nucleophiles results in α-functionalization to give products such as (III), (IV) or (V).

ChemInform Abstract

Hypervalent iodine oxidation of β-diketones and β-ketoesters such as (I) using appropriate nucleophiles results in α-functionalization to give products such as (III), (IV) or (V). Benzoylacetone (Ia) on reaction with iodosobenzene in methanol (VI) yields (VII) and (VIII).
