Abstract
The tetraorganotin compounds (III) are prepared from the thiophenes (I) by two methods.

The tetraorganotin compounds (III) are prepared from the thiophenes (I) by two methods. Either the intermediate thienyl anion is generated by metal-halogen exchange or the thiophene is deprotonated directly using butyllithium. Numerous examples are given in the original paper.
