Abstract

The phosphoranes (I) react with gray selenium via a Wittig olefination-type reaction of the intermediate selenoaldehydes (II) to give the products (III) and (IV).

The phosphoranes (I) react with gray selenium via a Wittig olefination-type reaction of the intermediate selenoaldehydes (II) to give the products (III) and (IV). In the presence of the diene (VI) Diels-Alder reaction with (IIa) takes place and leads to the formation of compound (VII).
