Abstract
The intermediate borane (VII) is used as a key compound for two different synthetic pathways which lead to the desired product (VIII).

The intermediate borane (VII) is used as a key compound for two different synthetic pathways which lead to the desired product (VIII). The latter is subsequently converted via the ester (XII) to the title compound (XIV), a constituent of Achillea ageratifolia.
