Abstract

The complex (I) is prepared by air oxidation of a complex formed from Mn(II) acetate and 4-methyl-2,6-bis-(di((2-pyridyl)methyl)aminomethyl)phenolate and crystallized as its perchlorate salt.

The complex (I) is prepared by air oxidation of a complex formed from Mn(II) acetate and 4-methyl-2,6-bis-(di((2-pyridyl)methyl)aminomethyl)phenolate and crystallized as its perchlorate salt. The complex (II) is obtained by oxidation of the analogous dichloro complex with bromine water (no yields given). The structures of both the complexes (I) (space group P21/n, Z=4) and (II) (C2/c, Z = 8) aredetermined by X-ray analysis. The development of EPR hyperfine structure at low temp. in relation to the strength of the Mn···Mn magnetic coupling is studied and discussed.
