Abstract

The bismercaptomethylbenzene (I) reacts with trimethyl- or triphenyldichlorostiborane (II) or with the corresponding dialkoxystiborane, prepared in situ from (II) and alkoxides, to give the benzodithiastibepins (III).

The bismercaptomethylbenzene (I) reacts with trimethyl- or triphenyldichlorostiborane (II) or with the corresponding dialkoxystiborane, prepared in situ from (II) and alkoxides, to give the benzodithiastibepins (III). Thermal treatment of (III) produces the dihydrobenzodithiin (IV).
