Abstract

The phosphonite (I) reacts with butyraldehyde (IIa) or benzaldehyde (IIb) to give the phosphinates (III).

ChemInform Abstract

The phosphonite (I) reacts with butyraldehyde (IIa) or benzaldehyde (IIb) to give the phosphinates (III). Treatment of (I) with methyl acrylate (IV) produces the C-silylated phosphinate (V), together with small amounts of the phosphinate (VI). The latter isomerizes upon distillation, forming (V).
