Abstract
Coupling of the thiols (I) with chloroacetone (II) in the presence of sodium hydroxide and KHSO5 (oxone) yields the sulfonylpropanones (III).

Coupling of the thiols (I) with chloroacetone (II) in the presence of sodium hydroxide and KHSO5 (oxone) yields the sulfonylpropanones (III). The reaction can easily be monitored by pH measurements.
