Abstract

POCl3(anhydrous substance as well as moist samples containing 1% and 5% water) is found to be a useful catalyst for the synthesis of both the α- and β-anomer of acetylated aryl, alkyl and arylalkyl D-glucosides from the corresponding alcohols and fully acetylated sugars.

ChemInform Abstract

POCl3(anhydrous substance as well as moist samples containing 1% and 5% water) is found to be a useful catalyst for the synthesis of both the α- and β-anomer of acetylated aryl, alkyl and arylalkyl D-glucosides from the corresponding alcohols and fully acetylated sugars. It is also found to be an excellent catalyst for the irreversible anomerization of acetyled β-anomeric D-glucopyranosides to their α-anomers in the presence of the alcohols.
