Abstract

Reaction of the methoxyphenyldimethylaminopropene (I) with the organometallic compounds (II) gives the styrenes (IIIb) and (IIIc).

ChemInform Abstract

Reaction of the methoxyphenyldimethylaminopropene (I) with the organometallic compounds (II) gives the styrenes (IIIb) and (IIIc). (IIIa) is prepared by addition of methylmagnesium bromide (IIa) to the methoxyphenylpropenylammonium iodide (IV), followed by elimination. The alkene (VI) is obtained by reaction of (IV) with the cuprate (IIb) (M: Cu(Li)Bu) or by reduction of (IV).
