ChemInform Abstract: Organometallic Rhodium(III) Complexes as Catalysts for the Photoreduction of Protons to Hydrogen on Colloidal TiO2.
Abstract
The photoreduction of protons to H2 by sunlight and colloidal TiO2 in the presence of the Rh(III) complexes (I) is possible without the participation of colloidal Pt and is not restricted to alkaline solution.
ChemInform Abstract
The photoreduction of protons to H2 by sunlight and colloidal TiO2 in the presence of the Rh(III) complexes (I) is possible without the participation of colloidal Pt and is not restricted to alkaline solution. The complexes are thereby reduced, via the Rh(II) stage, to Rh(I) complexes which then undergo transformation to the Rh(III) complexes with evolution of H2. The course of the reaction is investigated by cyclic voltammetry and pulse radiolysis as well as by transient absorption spectroscopy. The complexes (I) are prepared from ((η5-C5Me5)RhCl(μ-Cl))2 and corresponding NN-ligands and characterized by 1H NMR spectral data (no yields given).
