Abstract
The ligands, prepared by hydrogenation of the appropriate Schiff bases with NaBH4 in 46-73% yield, react with K2PtCl4 in aqueous ethanol to yield the intensely colored complexes (I).
ChemInform Abstract
The ligands, prepared by hydrogenation of the appropriate Schiff bases with NaBH4 in 46-73% yield, react with K2PtCl4 in aqueous ethanol to yield the intensely colored complexes (I). The ligand behavior in these complexes is investigated by IR, electronic and 1H NMR spectroscopy and electrochemistry. The structure of the title complex (Ib) is determined by X-ray analysis (space group P21/n, Z=2). All complexes have a square-planar trans-PtN2S2 chromophore. They are dithiolene-like and show electron-transfer properties.
