Abstract

Treatment of the triazenes (I) with TFA or AcOH in benzene (II) leads to good yields of the biaryls (IV)/(V).

ChemInform Abstract

Treatment of the triazenes (I) with TFA or AcOH in benzene (II) leads to good yields of the biaryls (IV)/(V). The intermediate diazonium ions, e.g. (III), can be trapped by 2-naphthol (VI) to give the azo dyes (VII). Reaction of (I) with the halides (VIII), (X), or (XII) yields the compounds (IX), (XI), or (XIII). The dediazoniation mechanism is discussed.
