Abstract

The m-alkenylnitrobenzenes (I) and the nitroalkenylbenzene (IV) are hydrogenated in the presence of a RhCl3/phase transfer catalyst system, producing the compounds (III) or (V) as a result of hydrogenation in the side chain.

ChemInform Abstract

The m-alkenylnitrobenzenes (I) and the nitroalkenylbenzene (IV) are hydrogenated in the presence of a RhCl3/phase transfer catalyst system, producing the compounds (III) or (V) as a result of hydrogenation in the side chain. Under analogous conditions, nitrobenzene (VI) gives aniline (VII) and nitrocyclohexane (VIII).
