ChemInform Abstract

The inhibition effect of the compounds (Ia)-(Id) on mild steel in 50% H3PO4 has been investigated by weight loss measurements and polarization techniques. The corrosion rate is found to depend on the concentration of the inhibitor and its inhibition order is proportional to the reverse of the increasing steric hindrance. The heterocyclic quaternary ammonium compounds act as cathodic inhibitors ofthe acid corrosion of mild steel. It is shown that the adsorption of the inhibitors follows the Frumkin adsorption.
