Abstract

The epoxy sulfoxides (I) are converted to the alkyl vinyl ketones (III) via the phenylthio carbonyl compounds (II).

ChemInform Abstract

The epoxy sulfoxides (I) are converted to the alkyl vinyl ketones (III) via the phenylthio carbonyl compounds (II). Transformation of (Ia) or (Ib) to the bis(phenylthio) ketones (V) and subsequent elimination of both thio groups affords the divinyl ketones (VI).
