ChemInform Abstract

The thiocarbamoyl derivative (III) of the α-hydroxy cyclopentenone (Ia) reacts with lithium halides in acetonitrile/acetic acid to give the corresponding halo compounds (Ib) and (Ic). The same procedure is applied for the preparation of (IVb) and (IVc), (Vb) and (Vc), or (VIb) from the corresponding hydroxy compounds (IVa), (Va), or (VIa). (1H- NMR-data).
