The use of method A) renders possible the cleavage of the allyl group of compound (I), leading to the acid (II).

The use of method A) renders possible the cleavage of the allyl group of compound (I), leading to the acid (II). Analogously, the free hydroxy groups of (III)-(VI) can be regenerated (95-990/0). In the case of the quinolone (VII), the dihydroxy derivative (VIII) is observed.
