ChemInform Abstract

The cyclic voltammetric behaviour of a freshly prepared NiCo2O4 electrode differs remarkably from that of an aged one. The influence of both the limit potentials and of the cycling procedure on the voltammograms are considered to be ageing phenomena. These are interpreted in terms of partial decomposition of the NiCo2O4 surface layer. From the results of Parts l and 2 the following cation distribution for NiCo2O4 spinel is proposed: Cofix Co? [Nif N?iyCo? 103,11, with two valence states on the sublattices and the possibility of excess oxygen.
