ChemInform Abstract

Two pathways, Starting from hexabromobenzene (I) or from the ethyne (VI), are chosen for the approach to the desired ring system (V). The structure of (Va) is closely investigated by X-ray analysis (space group 12/ a). There is no doubt that the Central benzene ring of (V) represents a nondelocalized or at 76 le-ast maximally localized cyclohexatriene unit. (Vb) is thermally stable in the neat state to 400°C but flash vacuum pyrolysis at 700°C leads to the isomeric triyne mentioned in the title.
