Abstract
An efficient three-step synthesis of the title compound (IV) is described, Starting from p-dichlorobenzene (I).

An efficient three-step synthesis of the title compound (IV) is described, Starting from p-dichlorobenzene (I). The key step in this synthesis is the hydromagnesation reaction of the vinyl benzene (III), which is catalysed by NiClz or by titanium compounds. NiClz affords better results since the target compound (IV) is obtained nearly free of impurities.
