Abstract
The title compound has been obtained by annealing a mixture of U02 and Nb205 (l :.l .5 molar ratio) in Na2CO3 at 1200°C for 15 h (attempt to prepare UNb30lo).

The title compound has been obtained by annealing a mixture of U02 and Nb205 (l :.l .5 molar ratio) in Na2CO3 at 1200°C for 15 h (attempt to prepare UNb30lo). It crystallizes in the rhombohedral system, space group R3m with Z=3/2. The Uand 0(2) atoms are delocalized and the oxygen vacancies are located on the 0(1) sites of the uranyl-type bond.
