Die Photolyse eines Gemischs der Carbonylverbindungen (I) mit Tetramethylharnstoff ergibt neben den Pinakolen (IV) die Alkohole (II) und 4-1 1% der durch thermische Cyclisierung der Alkohole entstehenden Oxazolidinone (III).
