Abstract

A generalized MATLAB scheme is developed to analyze and design heat exchanger networks (HENs) in process industries. This scheme has been checked for various industrial problems from the literature. The results produced by the proposed scheme are in exact agreement with the literature. The proposed scheme is user-friendly and less time-consuming. It will be helpful for industry persons, process engineers, and budding chemical engineers, involved in modeling and simulation studies in order to minimize the energy requirements of industries as well as for academic purposes. The proposed scheme just needs a MATLAB package which is easily available and cheaper than other commercially available heat exchanger network design packages.
