Graphical Abstract

The cover shows a new generation of organic solvent nanofiltration composite membranes, which are prepared combining a support layer with a selective layer, both made from the same polymeric material (P84 co-polyimide). These membranes are defined polymeric homogeneous composite (PHC) membranes. Enrica Fontananova et al. on page 1653 apply the PHC membranes in the removal of a dye from polar aprotic solvents. Thanks to the peculiar chemistry of the polyimides, the crosslinked P84-based porous membrane can be used as a support layer of a composite membrane in which the selective layer is made of the same material as the support. The starting support membrane has low rejection toward the solute molecule, but after coating, the resulting PHC membrane is able to reject it.
