Abstract

Chromosome changes can be observed in many tumors, suggesting that a connection exists between chromosome aberrations and tumor formation. A general introduction to the techniques and objectives of research in cytogenetics is followed by a discussion of the modern theories of the etiology of tumors, using human meningioma as an example. Meningiomas are relatively benign, slowly growing tumors of the meninges.
