Würfel und Kugeln: Die einfache thermische Zersetzung von [Co2(CO)8], das in einem flüssigen 1-Alkyl-3-methylimidazoliumsalz dispergiert ist, liefert je nach spezieller Art der ionischen Flüssigkeit und Zersetzungszeit wahlweise ligandenfreie Cobaltnanowürfel oder sphärische Cobaltnanopartikel. Diese Nanostrukturen sind selektive Katalysatoren für die Fischer-Tropsch-Synthese. Tf=Triflat.
