– In dem ersteren Aufsatze vermisst man alle Details, welche ein Urtheil über die Genauigkeit der Versuche ermöglichten. Nur ein Versuch wird ausführlich mitgetheilt, von den Resultaten aller übrigen nur das Mittel gegeben. Durch eine ziemlich willkürliche Correction wird alsdann dieser Mittelwerth mit demjenigen in Uebereinstimmung gebracht, welcher aus der damals bekannten Schallgeschwindigkeit folgte. – Die versuche von Gay-Lussac und Welter, von denen Laplace ein Beispiel giebt, scheinen gar nicht publicirt worden zu seyn.
