Summary

This chapter summarizes the lessons learned from the case studies of five different industry sectors. It presents the infrastructure components of an Industrial 5G solution and identifies opportunities for real-time data-driven innovations. The main value of Industrial 5G is created when data are turned into meaningful information and digital services in real time. The solution comprises generic parts that are common across industries and industry-specific parts that often require customization. The implementation of Industrial 5G involves obstacles and challenges that need to be proactively managed. The main barriers are linked to managing competencies, change complexity, technology, total costs, and data security and privacy. Managing these barriers proactively is essential for a successful implementation.
