Risk of a fatal or nonfatal injury is higher for workers in EMS than for workers in other settings. While there are few studies exploring occupational safety in EMS, we examine the available literature and data, and highlight factors that contribute to the risk and occurrence of fatal and nonfatal injuries for EMS personnel.
